History
Gambarogno brings together numerous villages facing the eastern shore of Lake Maggiore, at the foot of Monte Gambarogno. The mild climate made the region famous for growing camellias, earning it the nickname “land of camellias,” with a botanical park dedicated to them at Vairano. Old fishing hamlets alternate along the shore with Art Nouveau villas built when tourism discovered this coast.
